  I made these in all silver except for some small 14kt gold accents. The price of gold and silver have gone up so much I am trying to keep costs down by embracing the beautiful tones that textured and dimensional silver has.

Home for the summer.....

Spending the rest of the summer at home in the studio doing new work, filling orders, hoping for more online sales so I don't have to travel so much!!  Fixing my poor neglected home....Next show is to ART IN THE PEARL, in Portland, OR, Labor Day weekend.  Look forward to taking my time......

Mammoth Lakes 4th of July weekend

After driving 27 hours in 2 days (17 of them in one day), I am going to turn around & do a local 5 hour drive up to Mammoth Lakes, CA on Friday July 2, to set up for the
33rd Annual "Mammoth Celebrates the Arts", on the 4th of July weekend. This is a great time of year to go up to the Sierras, it is gorgeous and Yosemite is very nearby. Hope to see some of you there.

as I sit here in my kitchen, I am happy to look out my front door. Soon I will be back on the road for a month & this will all be a memory.
I am on my way to do the Main Street Fort Worth Art Show & then to the Big One, the Smithsonian Craft Show. So this is a reminder to me of where I started. Below is what I will see when I walk into my gate, that's our cat sitting on the bench by the front door.

 

BUCEEEZ have the best bathrooms... & Beaver Nuggets too...

Driving to Dallas to fly home I happily stopped at my favorite truck stop Bucees. What are Beaver Nuggets anyway? I looked all over & did not find a single bag. hmmmmm

They have the biggest cleanest bathrooms in Texas & a Sherif to greet you...

from San Antonio to Bayou City Art Festival

Well I made it to San Antonio, into the loving home of Janet, Bill & Chloe

We ate lovely food, drank Midnight Ramblers & then had a Nia dance in the morning with Janet, she taught Aya a new routine from Carlos. Then I hit the road for Houston. The blue bonnets were out & the weather was glorious.

I made it to Memorial Park in Houston & set up my booth with no rain wind or surprises. It went very smoothly.

                                     

Then off to cousin Rick's for drinks & dinner at Istanbul Grill, my absolutely favorite Turkish restaurant.  It's as close to being in Istanbul w/o actually being there. 

                                                         

Spent the next 3 days at the show & some of my favorite Houstonian customers stopped by wearing their favorite necklaces. Marilyn McPheeters had on her 21 chair necklace & yes, it is wearable & comfortable & she looked beautiful modeling it.

San Antonio or Bust

the wild flowers this year are outrageous!! Pale yellows with lavender lupin scatter the highway mixed in with fields of intense yellows & orange poppies scatter through in the Arizona desert. Perfect weather so far. Will try to take some pics today as I drive from Benson,AZ to Janet's in San Antonio. Can't wait to get their already. A 12 hour drive & I loose 2 hours for the time change. It's 4am in Benson at the Days Inn. Time to get a move on....."angels on my bumpers...(thank you Glenda)

Hello Glenda: sun shines thru my kitchen window as I sit on the window seat with many pillows, am packing the car to drive to Houston tomorrow. Have changed the booth feeling to a Paris bistro, black gold, ochre & silver. with the wooden mahagony cases. I'll take a pic & send it. I am bringing a dressmakers torso that I collaged with old newspapers & painted a matte mottled black, have found some old ornate gold painted frames to stick on the panels too. Will know more of the new feeling when I set-up at Memorial park in Houston on Thursday. 1600 miles away. the INTRINSIC PASSION of mysterious JOY

I am Etsy Treasury obsessed right now. A treasury is a collection in Etsy that people put together for a few days. I just got up at 3am to do this last one. It is all about COLOR, & after working in metal which is neutral I find that I crave delicious colors. I started finding this collection by googling art related to Papaya, then it evolved once I found a few artists I liked. I had intended to include one of my pieces but like in creating a piece of art sometimes it doesn't want to be what you want it to be. The name came from one of my favorite albums by Loop Guru called Duniya.

Well, this treasury came & went & not enough people got to see these amazing artists so I am posting some of the pix on this blog. Until I can figure out how to do it in some organized way they are a bit scattered. Enjoy!!

Visualize Swirled Peas to Sunflower Sutra

I put together this fun treasury on Etsy of 12 different photos from 12 different venders. It's a way to curate a mini art show. Here are a few examples of the show. It's only up for 2 days, til Friday, the 19th. I actually thought of the title while reading the book Olive Kittredge. It made me laugh but gave me this great visual. Also, going at the same time is my sunflower pendant in another treasury. They are both so full of joy! *NOTE: The treasuries have already expired on Friday Feb 19th. But at least you can enjoy some of the pix....

almost Valentines....

Hearts Delight turned out to be a huge success. It was the best show I have ever had there. The people of San Diego came out in the pouring rain & were so appreciative to all of us. Despite the fact that it was Super Bowl Sunday, our customers came to visit & shop!! We drank Champagne & munched on treats. It was a rewarding inspired weekend. In the evening Moni & Stuart took me to a terrific mexican restaurant called Rancho, in the North Park area of San Diego. A very hip trendy neighborhood. Having this 1st wonderful show gives me hope for a abundant new year ahead. 2010 is already a success!! Here are some hearts that I put on etsy today. HEARTS DELIGHT: Valentine Show FEB 6 & 7

It's one week before the Hearts Delight Show & I am busily creating new work for this show & the upcoming year. I just found out that I will be in the Brookside Art Annual a wonderful show in Kansas City. It will be the week after my show at the Smithsonian, in DC. So April & May will be a very busy time driving all over the country from Ft Worth to Washington DC & back to Kansas City. Can't wait for the adventure. In the meantime I will continue to work in my studio. I draw inspiration from my friends & family & the world around me. Every moment of living is precious!!

The very first show of the year takes me to San Diego, CA. This is our annual Valentine Show at Moni Blom's Studio. For the past 6 years we have had this fun little gathering & art sale in her home/studio in the North Park area of San Diego, CA. It is in one of those charming little neighborhoods with little spanish & one of a kind bungalows. Moni is a very talented ceramic sculptor. She can do ANYTHING in clay, ANYTHING!! Her specialty are these wonderful full figured nude women with wild hair riding some sort of object or sitting on a chair or in a tub. Their hands are so delicate & elegant and full of expression. Here is an example of one. Moni also makes amazing Masks, every size & shape & subject matter.

The other woman is Sue Bakley, who makes these exquisite little fabric purses with gorgeous fabrics & unusual beads. Sue's purses are very architectural in the way she combines the fabric patterns & color choices, as well as elegant!! Sue herself has a lovely elegance & it shows in her work. I especially like this elephant one below.

more JuJu Magic....

I just shipped off the last of the new work for the

JuJu Magic show in Seattle. Here are the pix. The necklace on the left is my personal favorite Pendulum, it has a lot of JUJU in it & all the wheels spin just in case. The 3 bracelets on the right also spin & twirl. I used sterling silver, 14kt gold & those old pocketwatch parts that I love so much. They have a new purpose now. Re-purposing so to speek. They are now on their way to find a home & have an adventure, bringing new joy into somebody elses life!!! My joy was in the creation. I find it interesting that I rearrange matter into a piece of wearable art & then put it out into the universe. These pieces that I create have its' own history that I will never know about. I try to put positive healing JUJU or intentions into everything I make.

I don't put my work in many galleries & the only one I am selling at in the Los Angeles area is the FOLK TREE in Pasadena. This place is a feast for the eyes & there is so much to see it is hard to get past the front door. The walls are filled with art mainly from Mexico, but beautiful carvings & Day of the Dead art. They feature work from the famous Aguilar Family. The owner Rocky Behr, has been traveling to Mexico for years buying art, visiting artisans & she even takes groups for tours. She has great vision & insight for acquiring wonderful folk art. So come to the Valentine Party or make sure you visit this gallery if you find yourself in Old Pasadena. Also, next door is Central Park a delicious restaurant both not to be missed!!!
